December 15, 2019 | The Barkley House |Pensacola FL
There are times during a wedding where something falls through. In my experience, we’ve had a bakery who forgot to make a cake (but made one quickly before cake cutting) and a DJ that canceled a week before a wedding (which luckily were able to find a replacement). These things happen but tend to always get resolved without skipping a beat!
In Mary and Dylan’s case, we all forgot that they were supposed to read their personal vows during their husband and wife photos during sunset. “Ahh shoot,” we all said after we realized it. It was already later in the evening and no sign of any sunlight outside. So we all decided to have them read their vows inside the historical Barkley House where they were able to have a closed-door, private moment together.
We had Dylan and Mary stand near a single pane taller window that was letting in a bit of evening glow and the moment that Dylan started reading his part, I knew that this was a mishap that was supposed to happen.
The way his voice echoed through the empty vintage rooms with their reflection off the varnished floors. The tears that streamed down each of their faces and the long drawn out pauses to catch their composures. The videographer and I couldn’t help but look at each other with eyes puddled in tears because we knew that this moment was so special. So magical. It is easy to say that forgetting to say their personal vows at sunset is my favorite mishap to date.
Mary and Dylan, Thank You from the bottom of my heart for trusting me to take part in your special day. I’ve watched you guys since our engagement session (which seems like forever ago!) and I’m so excited to see what you two accomplish together. Love you guys and enjoy this first year of marital bliss!
